Article – St Michael News: “Stylish Mums-to-Be”

Marks & Spencer. 1987. A Must For Every Woman. St Michael News. February,  p. 3.

Fashion during pregnancy is celebrated in St Michael News, the internal staff newspaper, which was read widely by workers of Marks & Spencer. This article in particular is important because of the emphasis the feature places on mothers who work outside of the home (as many Marks & Spencer staff members would have done at this time in the 1980s). Indeed, this emphasis hints at the increasing importance and visibility of the “working woman” and the “career woman” in broader society.
