This poster was created by the National Union of Public Employees – Date Unknown.
The poster highlights how national cuts impacted heavily upon women, forcing them back into the home and out of the public sphere once more.
The poster highlights how women were losing their jobs as a direct impact of the cuts; however more indirect, but just as damaging, consequences of the cuts on women are emphasised too. For instance, cuts to public services resulted in certain services, such as childcare, being reduced, leaving women to make up for this lost support.
Although this poster was created in the 1970’s/80’s, the message is still very relevant today with the fresh cuts being made to public services by the Coalition government.
