Article – M&S Sparks “Women of the Year”

Marks and Spencer. 1964. Women of the Year. Sparks. Spring 36 (1), pp. 34-35.

The Women of the Year awards recognises the achievements of female staff at Marks & Spencer. This article is taken from the internal staff magazine of the company, Sparks, which was distributed quarterly to workers. In this special edition, two women within the company are celebrated for their commitment to the retailer as Human Resources workers who recently took part in some very special events; attending the wedding of H.R.H Princess Alexandra and speaking at the company’s Long Service Ceremony. Indeed, these remarkable workers who have risen through the ranks of the industry are represented as a testament to the company’s commitment to furthering the careers of women in the 1960’s.
